SUMMARY:LOWNOISER Webinar: Analytical Modelling Approaches for Underwater Noise Reduction in Shipping
DESCRIPTION:As part of the LOWNOISER project\, this webinar will present practical demonstrator cases showing how analytical modelling methods can be adopted to evaluate the effectiveness of abatement solutions for new build ships and retrofits. \n  \nThe webinar will focus on real industrial applications developed by LOWNOISER partners. Through concrete examples\, participants will gain insight into how underwater noise challenges can be analysed and addressed at a technical level using predictive engineering tools and operational data. \nThe session will include presentations from partners directly involved in the demonstrator activities\, covering topics such as: \n  \n\nBevel gear noise reduction on board MS Havila Capella\nOptimisation of underwater spiral bevel gear microgeometry to reduce tonal noise emissions using analytical excitation and transfer-path modelling.\nAir Lubrication System (ALS) on Vertom Joy\nAssessment of underwater noise reduction potential through reduced propulsion power demand and acoustic damping effects from air lubrication.\nOperational monitoring on Montesperanza\nUse of onboard monitoring systems and operational data to support underwater noise assessment and prediction.\nEngine mount optimisation and operational monitoring on Fridtjof Nansen\nInvestigation of vibration isolation measures combined with monitoring-based analytical evaluation.\n\n  \nThe webinar will highlight how modelling frameworks such as PIANO and other analytical methods can be used to estimate the abatement potential of different technologies before and after implementation. \nThe event is intended for ship designers\, shipowners\, technology providers\, researchers\, classification societies\, ports\, policymakers\, and other stakeholders interested in sustainable shipping and underwater radiated noise reduction. \n  \nRegister here.
